Why Stories Matter

Our friends at Human Development Scotland will be hosting a series of three webinars about children and how they use stories to make sense of our world

Further to the successful ‘Stories & Imagination’ Series in early 2025, ‘Why Stories Matter’ is a series of online presentations and discussions that seeks to stimulate thinking about the roles of stories and storytelling in our lives. How do we use stories to make sense of our world?

What can a closer look at three works of children’s literature tell us about the experience of childhood? How might this enrich and inform our psychoanalytic understanding of ourselves and our work with children?

This is a series of three webinars, in February and March 2026. Each presentation is standalone and can be enjoyed on its own,  but to get the most out of the series it is recommended to attend all three if possible.

This event will be ideal for Professionals working with Children or Adults in Therapeutic or Educational capacities as well as anyone with an interest in Psychoanalytic Thinking, Human Development and the ways we find and make meaning in the world.
